Trump's harsh message to Prince Harry
Former US President Donald Trump said that if he is elected president for a second time this year, he would not protect Prince Harry, and claimed that the Duke of Sussex "betrayed the Queen."
Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday, the former president stated that the Biden administration had been "too generous" to Harry, who moved to California with Meghan Markle in 2020.
These remarks came a few days after Harry said on the Good Morning America program that he had "considered becoming an American citizen" but "did not know what was stopping him." In an interview with the Daily Express, Trump said, "I wouldn't protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That's unforgivable. If it were up to me, he would be on his own."
Trump's comments came as a new debate began surrounding Harry's immigration status. A conservative think tank in the US argues that the prince may not have been legally eligible to enter the US because he admitted to using illegal drugs in his memoirs. In his book "Spare," Harry had admitted to using cocaine, marijuana, and psychedelic mushrooms in his youth.
The Duke stated that cocaine "meant nothing" to him, adding, "Marijuana is different, that actually really helped me."
