According to reports in the Israeli media, Witkoff told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the U.S. president-elect wants a hostage deal by his inauguration on January 20.
Witkoff emphasized that both sides must show flexibility for a deal to be reached.
In a statement regarding the meeting, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office indicated that it had decided to send MOSSAD Chief David Barnea, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) hostage point person Major General Nitzan Alon, and political advisor Ophir Falk to Doha, the capital of Qatar, to join efforts to reach an agreement with Hamas.
