Trump's new assessment on Iran negotiations: I want everything

US President Donald Trump made remarks about Iran in an interview with the US press. In his statement regarding the negotiations held with Iran in Pakistan, Trump argued that the talks were inconclusive because Iran could not commit to abandoning its nuclear program. "Towards the end, the talks became very friendly, and we agreed on almost all the points we needed, except for the point where they refused to give up their nuclear ambitions. Frankly, that was by far the most important point for me," Trump said.

Announcing that the US and other countries would send minesweepers to the Strait of Hormuz to clear mines laid by Iran, Trump said, "We have minesweepers in the region. We have state-of-the-art, highly advanced underwater minesweepers; in addition to these, we are also sending more conventional minesweepers to the region. As I understand it, the UK and a few other countries are also sending minesweepers."

Stating that two US Navy warships passed through the Strait of Hormuz yesterday, Trump said, "You probably saw yesterday, we sent two highly advanced, magnificent, brand-new destroyers right through the middle of the strait, and nobody did anything to us."

Stating that Iran will return to the negotiating table, Trump said, "I predict they will come back by giving us everything we want. I want everything. They have no leverage."

Defending his recent threat against Iran, in which he said, "Tonight, an entire civilization will be destroyed and will never return," Trump claimed that this threat forced Iran to sit at the negotiating table. "It caused a real change in what I said about a civilization. They are allowed to say 'Death to America, death to this.' I make a statement, and they say, 'Oh, what a big deal.' That statement brought them to the negotiating table and they didn't walk away," Trump said.

Speaking after the US-Iran talks in Pakistan ended without an agreement, Trump reiterated his threats to target Iran's energy infrastructure, which he had voiced before the negotiations. "I could wipe out Iran in a day. In an hour, I could destroy all their energy facilities, power plants, which is very important. I would hate to do that; because if I do, it would take them 10 years to rebuild, and they would never be able to build them anyway. And then you hit the bridges," Trump said.

"The only thing left is their water"

Arguing that Iran's military infrastructure has been "wiped out," Trump stated that some potential targets, including desalination plants, the power grid, and bridges, are still on the agenda. "We have essentially completely wiped out their country. The only thing left is their water; hitting that would be extremely devastating," Trump said.

Stating that Iran has "a few more missile production facilities," Trump said, "We know them all."
