Trump's Putin instruction to Special Envoy Witkoff
US President Donald Trump stated, "I have instructed my Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with President Putin in Moscow in the hope of finalizing the peace plan."
US President Donald Trump continues his diplomatic efforts toward peace between Ukraine and Russia. In his statement, Trump said, "Over the past week, my team has made tremendous progress in ending the war between Russia and Ukraine," and once again reiterated that if he had been president at the time, the war in question would not have broken out.
Stating that the 28-point peace plan prepared by the US has been largely accepted but that there are disagreements on a few points, Trump said, "I have instructed my Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with President Putin in Moscow in the hope of finalizing this peace plan. At the same time, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will also meet with the Ukrainians."
Expressing his hope to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin once the agreement to end the Ukraine-Russia War is finalized or reaches its final stage, Trump said, "Let us all hope that peace is achieved as quickly as possible."
