Turkey-US-Syria summit at the White House
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the US, Syria, and Turkey held a trilateral summit at the level of foreign ministers in the US.
Syrian President Shara, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Assad Hassan al-Shaibani, traveled to the White House for an official visit, a first in Syrian history.
The statement noted that President Shara was welcomed by US President Donald Trump with an official ceremony and that the meeting, which lasted more than an hour, took place in an extremely friendly atmosphere. It was stated that US President Trump expressed his admiration for the new Syrian administration and the Syrian people, and praised the country's efforts to restore stability.
Upon President Trump's instructions, a comprehensive working meeting was held involving Minister of Foreign Affairs Assad Hassan al-Shaibani, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to implement the agreements reached between the two leaders and to determine the mechanisms for them. During the talks, the parties decided to continue the implementation of the March 10 Agreement. In this context, the issue of integrating the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Syrian Arab Army was discussed. The American side reiterated its full support for security agreement efforts with Israel aimed at strengthening regional stability.
In the economic sphere, it was noted that Trump emphasized US support for development and investment efforts in Syria and stated that steps toward lifting sanctions under the Caesar Act would continue.
At the end of the statement, it was emphasized that the meeting took place in an atmosphere based on mutual respect and reflecting common interests, and that both leaders strongly demonstrated their will to open a new chapter in Syria-US relations.
