The International Solidarity Movement (ISM) has reported that Israel killed Turkish-American citizen Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi by intentionally targeting her.
A written statement was issued by the ISM, which was founded to support the Palestinian people, regarding Eygi's killing by Israeli soldiers.
The statement said that Eygi, an ISM volunteer, was participating as an observer in weekly demonstrations held in the West Bank.
The statement, which alleges that the Israeli army intentionally targeted and killed Eygi, reported that the Israeli army opened fire with live ammunition while demonstrators, including children, were praying.
The statement included the expression, 'Ayşenur, whom we accept as a martyr, is the 18th demonstrator killed in the town of Beita (affiliated with the city of Nablus in the West Bank) since 2020.'
One of the ISM volunteers and eyewitnesses, whose statements were included in the report, stated that while the demonstrations were continuing peacefully, Eygi was targeted by a sniper seen on a roof while she was standing a little away from the demonstration area, near an olive tree.
'The army intentionally shot Eygi in the head,' said the ISM volunteer, emphasizing that the US and European governments are complicit in the genocide in Gaza by preventing Israel from being punished.
Israeli soldiers had opened fire on participants during a peaceful demonstration held in the West Bank.
Eygi, a US citizen who participated in the demonstration to support Palestinians, was shot in the head and seriously wounded.
Despite all interventions, Eygi could not be saved after being taken to a Palestinian-owned hospital.
Eygi was a human rights activist and a volunteer for the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), which supports Palestinians through peaceful and civil methods against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
In 2003, US citizen Rachel Corrie, who was crushed to death by an Israeli bulldozer, was also a member of the same movement.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan condemned the killing of Eygi and stated that they would continue to make efforts on every platform to ensure that Israel is held accountable before the law for the crimes against humanity it has committed.
