Turkish Embassy in Baku denies 'secret meeting' allegations regarding Hakan Fidan

The Turkish Embassy in Baku has issued a statement regarding allegations that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a secret meeting and issued certain instructions during his visit to Azerbaijan.

In reports published by some media outlets in Azerbaijan that later gained traction, it was claimed that Fidan held a secret meeting at the Youth Aid Foundation (GYF) during his visit to Baku. The Embassy stated that these allegations do not reflect the truth.

The statement expressed that the reports titled "The behind-the-scenes of Hakan Fidan's meeting at the GYF," which appeared in some publications, most notably Qafqazinfo, were based on baseless claims. The Embassy characterized these publications as disinformation activities aimed at damaging the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

The allegations that our Minister held a secret meeting and gave various instructions are absolutely untrue.

In its statement, the Embassy noted that during his visit to Baku, Fidan took photos with numerous people for courtesy purposes, and that these individuals included members of an organization with legal status in Azerbaijan.

The statement also addressed allegations raised through a letter purportedly sent to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. The Embassy emphasized that no such letter exists and that these claims are also baseless.

It was reported that phrases mentioned in the news, such as "plans for interference in internal affairs," "intelligence operations," "coup and chaos plans," and "training of influence agents," do not reflect the truth. The Embassy called on the Turkish and Azerbaijani public not to give credence to baseless news and manipulative claims that could harm the relations between the two countries.
