Turkish police officer saves a life in New Jersey: Receives praise from US officials

Fatih Karabıyık, a Turkish police officer serving in the Ridgefield Police Department in the US state of New Jersey, performed a life-saving intervention on an injured person during a traffic accident that occurred last week. Karabıyık's 'quick and effective' first aid, which included performing CPR to keep the injured person alive until the ambulance arrived, ensured the individual's survival.

The incident occurred last Wednesday on Grand Avenue as a result of a collision between two vehicles. A driver who was seriously injured in the accident lost consciousness and was removed from the vehicle. Fatih Karabıyık, one of the first to arrive at the scene, noticed that the injured person was not breathing and had no pulse. Karabıyık immediately began first aid by performing CPR. Continuing his intervention until the ambulance arrived, Karabıyık enabled the injured person to return to life.

Ridgefield Fire Department Deputy Chief Scott Russo praised Karabıyık's intervention, stating the following:

''Fatih Karabıyık's timely intervention saved a human life. Having police officers like him is a great source of pride for us.''

Fatih Karabıyık made the following remarks in his statement:

''As police officers of Turkish descent serving in many states across the US, we work under difficult conditions and save lives. However, we are not recognized as much as our foreign colleagues. I hope our elders living here and our Turkish citizens serving within the state will notice us and support us when necessary.''

While the Turkish community in New Jersey takes pride in Fatih Karabıyık's success, it was emphasized that such acts of heroism should be more visible. Karabıyık's exemplary behavior was met with appreciation by both his colleagues and the authorities.
