Two passenger trains collide in India: Deaths and injuries reported
According to initial reports, 10 people have lost their lives and 25 others were injured following a collision between two passenger trains in India.
In India's Andhra Pradesh state, the Vishakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train struck the rear of the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train.
SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS CONTINUE IN THE REGION
In the accident, 4 carriages derailed, and according to initial reports, 10 people lost their lives and 27 people were injured. Authorities stated that, based on the preliminary investigation, the accident occurred due to human error. Search and rescue operations are ongoing in the accident area.
NOT THE FIRST DISASTER
In India, which has the world's fourth-largest rail network, 292 people lost their lives and 3 railway employees were arrested by police following an accident involving 2 passenger trains and 1 freight train in Balasore, Odisha state, on June 2.
