Two priests in Greece allegedly funneled 3 million euros from church funds to nightclubs
It has been revealed that two high-ranking priests affiliated with the Catholic Church in Greece were involved in money laundering and embezzlement schemes with nightclub operators in the Peloponnese region.
Two priests in Greece have been involved in an unbelievable incident. Information regarding the two priests who funneled money to nightclubs has been reported to the Vatican.
As part of the investigation, it was determined that approximately 3 million euros (approximately 111 million 332 thousand lira) were withdrawn from funds belonging to the Catholic Church and transferred to nightclubs.
According to reports by TRT Haber, the findings obtained by the institution have been forwarded to the prosecutor's office of the Catholic Church in Greece.
It is assessed that the priests may be involved in embezzlement, while the nightclub operators may be involved in money laundering.
It was stated that the illegal transactions began eight years ago, and it was reported that the most recent suspicious transaction of 50 thousand euros (approximately 1 million 855 thousand lira) took place a few days ago.
Furthermore, the Vatican has also been informed about the incident.
