UAE calls for emergency UN Security Council meeting: Agenda is Israel
The UAE has called for a meeting of the United Nations Security Council following Israel's announcement that it would expand its ground operations in Gaza.
The statement regarding the matter was made on the X social media account of the UAE's UN mission.
CALLED FOR AN EMERGENCY MEETING
The statement indicated that the UAE has called for an emergency meeting of the UNSC as soon as possible in light of Israel's announcements that it would expand its ground operations in Gaza.
The Israeli military had previously announced that it was increasing its airstrikes and would expand its ground operations.
Most recently, on October 25, two separate draft resolutions presented by the US and Russia regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict were mutually vetoed at the UNSC.
In the US draft resolution that was vetoed, "the terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7 were strongly condemned," and it was pointed out that countries have the right to self-defense.
In the rejected draft resolution by Russia, a call was made for "an immediate, durable, and fully respected humanitarian ceasefire."
