UAE sentences perpetrators of rabbi's murder to death

Sentences have been handed down in the case of the rabbi's murder that took place in the United Arab Emirates last year.

Three perpetrators involved in the murder of Israeli-Moldovan rabbi Tzvi Kogan, who was found dead in the city of Al Ain on November 24, 2024, have been sentenced to death. A fourth defendant in the case was sentenced to life imprisonment.

REQUESTED ASSISTANCE FROM TURKEY

It was determined that the killers of Rabbi Kogan, who had been operating a grocery store in Dubai since 2020 and was found dead on November 24, 2024, had fled the country, prompting the UAE government to request assistance from Turkey. The National Intelligence Organization (MİT) launched an operation to capture the perpetrators, and security forces intervened upon the individuals' arrival in Istanbul. Police teams, who stopped the taxi the suspects were traveling in for a traffic check, apprehended the three individuals who were wanted in the UAE following an identity verification. The 28-year-old Alimbay Tahirovich, 28-year-old Mahmudjan Abdurrahim, and 33-year-old Azizbek Kamilovich, who murdered the rabbi, were extradited to the UAE where they committed the crime.

ACCUSATIONS AGAINST IRAN

Former Israeli politician Ayoob Kara claimed that Iran played a role in the death of Tzvi Kogan, who had lived in the UAE for several years, while Iran denied the accusations. In a statement issued by the Iranian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, it was stated, "We categorically reject the allegation of involvement in the killing of an Israeli rabbi in the UAE."
