UK Foreign Secretary Lammy: We continue to work for a just and lasting peace

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy hosted a meeting at Chevening House, the official residence of the Foreign Secretary in Kent, England, attended by US Vice President James David Vance, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, and national security advisors from Europe. The meeting focused on topics related to achieving peace in the Russia-Ukraine War.

In his statement regarding the meeting, UK Foreign Secretary Lammy said, "The UK's support for Ukraine is unwavering. We continue to work for a just and lasting peace."

HE HAD SPOKEN WITH ZELENSKYY

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also held a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier today, during which they agreed that the meeting hosted by Lammy would be a "vital forum" to assess progress toward peace. Zelenskyy, for his part, had emphasized that no territorial concessions would be made to Russia ahead of the Trump-Putin meeting.

TRUMP TO MEET PUTIN FACE-TO-FACE

US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in the US state of Alaska on August 15 to discuss the future of the war in Ukraine. Regarding a potential agreement to end the war, Trump said in a statement yesterday, "There will be some territorial exchanges that will be to the benefit of both sides."
