Visa scandal in the UK

Inspections have revealed that the UK Home Office issued work visas to 275 foreigners for a non-existent care home and granted 1,234 visas to a company with only four staff members. This scandal was identified as a result of a series of audits conducted by the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration, David Neal.

Neal stated that social care visas were introduced two years ago to address the chronic labor shortage in the sector. However, it was determined that some of these visas led to a quarter of foreign care workers abusing UK visa rules by working illegally in other sectors.

The Home Office announced that it has introduced restrictions on the care route, banning care workers from bringing family members starting March 11 and allowing only employers registered with the Care Quality Commission to act as visa sponsors.

These events were further complicated by Home Secretary James Cleverly dismissing the government's immigration inspector following the appearance of critical reports in the media. Neal was accused by the Home Office of "breaching" the terms of his appointment and leaking confidential information.

Neal stated that he has spent his entire working life protecting the country and had no choice but to report it to the Home Office when he identified a security vulnerability. This situation was described as "total Tory chaos on borders and immigration," and the Home Office was demanded to publish these reports in full.
