Ukraine accuses Russia of 'drone attack on Turkish ship'

The Ukrainian Navy has alleged that a Turkish-owned civilian ship traveling from Ukraine to Egypt was targeted by a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attack.

In a statement released via social mediaIn thestatement released, the ship named "VIVA" loaded with sunflower oil was passing through the grain corridor when itwhile it was within Ukraine'sexclusive economic zone boundaries and outside the effective range of air defense systems,it was stated that it was targeted.

AThe statement noted that there were 11 Turkish citizens on board, and that no injuries or casualties occurred as a result of the attack, adding that the ship continued its journey toward Egypt without sustaining any serious damage.

The Ukrainian Navy stated that they had made contact with the ship's captain and that if any need arosein the event of an emergency, search and rescue teams areprepared to intervene.Ukraine has accused Russia of violating international maritime lawbydoing so.
