Ukraine reacts to Trump's Ukraine peace plan: 'We will not give up our territory'
Zelenskyy spoke about the peace plan announced by Trump's vice-presidential candidate. Stating that Vance's plan implies Ukraine giving up its territory, Zelenskyy said they would not accept this.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the plans regarding the Russia-Ukraine War announced by the Republican vice-presidential candidate in the US, Ohio Senator James David Vance, would harm Ukraine's territorial integrity.
In an interview with the American magazine The New Yorker regarding the Russia-Ukraine War, Zelenskyy criticized Vance, who was nominated as the running mate of former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The Ukrainian President reacted to Vance, who has criticized US aid to Ukraine and stated in an interview that 'it would be in the US interest to accept that Ukraine will have to give up some of its territory to Russia and that the war must end.'
Describing the Republican vice-presidential candidate as 'radical,' Zelenskyy stated that Vance's plans to end the war mean that Ukraine would have to 'give up its territory.'
Zelenskyy conveyed that Vance's messages imply that Ukraine should make 'sacrifices,' and that the idea of the war ending to Ukraine's 'detriment' is unacceptable.

'A TERRIBLE IDEA'
Stating that he does not see Vance's ideas as an "official" discourse, Zelenskyy noted that implementing them would be 'a terrible idea.'
Regarding Vance's statements, Zelenskyy used the following expressions: 'For us, these are dangerous signals coming from a potential Vice President. I must say that it is not like that with Trump. Trump and I spoke on the phone, and in my opinion, his message was as positive as possible. Things like "I understand," "I will provide support."'
Emphasizing that it would also be harmful to 'US interests in other regions' for Vance and those who share his views to 'bargain' over Ukrainian territory, Zelenskyy explained the possible consequences by giving examples such as the Middle East, Taiwan, and US-China relations.
Zelenskyy argued that he does not take Vance's words "seriously" and that these plans would mean the US heading toward a global conflict.
