Ukraine strikes Russia with British missiles
A first has occurred in the Russia-Ukraine war. The Ukrainian army has launched an attack with British missiles on the city of Kurchatov, located in Russia's Kursk Oblast.
Ukraine has fired Storm Shadow cruise missiles, supplied by the UK, into Russian territory for the first time.
While Russian air defense systems intercepted some of the cruise missiles, others hit their targets.
On Tuesday, Ukraine had used ATACMS missiles for the first time to target a military facility in Bryansk.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had approved a doctrine two days ago that allows for a nuclear response if his country is subjected to ballistic missile attacks.
