Ukrainian army strikes Russia's Kursk region... Putin calls it a 'provocative action'
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the Ukrainian army's attacks on Russia's Kursk region are a "provocative action."
As the Russia-Ukraine war, which began in 2022, continues, Russian President Vladimir Putin made statements regarding the situation in the Kursk region during a meeting with government members.
Pointing out that the Ukrainian army had launched an attack on Kursk, Putin said, "The Kiev regime has attempted to carry out large-scale provocative actions, firing indiscriminately at civilian buildings, houses, and ambulances using various types of weapons, including missiles."
Putin stated that he would hold a meeting with officials from the Russian Ministry of Defense, law enforcement agencies, the General Staff, and the Federal Security Service (FSB) to receive information about the situation in the region.
Noting that he had also spoken with Acting Governor of the Kursk Region Aleksey Smirnov and instructed that necessary support be provided to civilians, Putin stated that the Russian government must take the necessary steps in this regard.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Following the attacks launched by the Ukrainian army on Russian territory in Kursk, intense clashes are taking place between the two armies.
The Russian Ministry of Defense had announced that they had inflicted losses on the Ukrainian army units attacking the Kursk region and that a counter-operation was ongoing.
Acting Governor of the Kursk Region Aleksey Smirnov had stated that they had begun evacuating civilians from settlements under attack on the Russia-Ukraine border and that hundreds of civilians had been evacuated from the region in a single day.
