UN and EU condemn Israeli Minister Ben-Gvir's raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque

The raid on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem, carried out by Israel's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and 2,250 fanatic Jews under police protection, has been condemned by the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU).

UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq condemned the raid, stating, "We are against any attempt to change the status quo at holy sites. Like other holy sites in Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque should be left alone and these sites should be controlled by the existing religious authorities. Such behavior is harmful and provocative."

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell stated that the EU strongly condemns Ben-Gvir for advocating the violation of the status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, reiterating the European Council's call made last June for the preservation of the status quo.
