UN Coordinator Griffiths describes events in Gaza as a "betrayal of humanity"

Griffiths, shared a statement on his X social media account marking the 6th month of Israel's attacks on Gaza.

Stating that the people of Gaza have been constantly facing "death, destruction, and man-made famine" since the start of Israel's attacks on October 7, Griffiths said, "This war is claiming more civilian lives with each passing day." he stated.

Pointing out that Palestinians are suffering "pain and agony" with every second the conflict continues, Griffiths "As I and many others have said repeatedly, it is long past time for this war to end." he assessed.

'THIS BETRAYAL MUST BE ACCOUNTED FOR'

Stating that no one is safe in Gaza and that there is no secure place to take refuge in the region, Griffiths emphasized that humanitarian aid efforts carried out by international and regional organizations in Gaza are being hindered by "bombardments, insecurity, and the obstruction of access."

Describing what is happening in Gaza as "a betrayal of humanity," Griffiths stated that this betrayal must be held to account.

Griffiths expressed, "Today, my heart is with the families of those killed, injured, or taken hostage, and with those who suffer the pain of not knowing the fate of their loved ones."
