UN expresses 'deep concern' over Israel's attack on Iran

Dujarric issued a written statement regarding Israel's attack on Iran.

Spokesperson Dujarric stated, "Following the Israel Defense Forces' overnight strikes on targets in Iran, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is deeply concerned by the continuing escalation in the Middle East. All acts of escalation must be condemned and must stop."

Dujarric added, "Guterres urgently reiterates his call to all parties to cease all military actions, including in Gaza and Lebanon, to exert maximum efforts to prevent an all-out regional war, and to return to the path of diplomacy."

ISRAEL'S ATTACK ON IRAN

Israel announced that it carried out attacks on military targets in Iran as "retaliation" for Iran's missile attacks on October 1.

Iran announced that some military sites in Tehran and the provinces of Khuzestan and Ilam in the west of the country were targeted, and that air defense systems "successfully" countered the attacks, though "limited damage" occurred in some locations.

Israel announced that the operation was completed "successfully."

In a written statement issued by the Iranian army, it was reported that 2 soldiers lost their lives in the attacks.
