UN: Number of children reported killed in Gaza exceeds number of children killed in wars worldwide in the last 4 years

Lazzarini shared a post on his X social media account regarding the children killed in Israel's attacks on Gaza.

Describing the statistics on children killed by Israel in Gaza as "staggering," Lazzarini stated that the number of children killed in the Gaza Strip, which has been the target of Israeli attacks since October 7, is higher than the total number of children killed in wars worldwide over the last 4 years.

"A WAR ON CHILDREN"

Lazzarini stated, "This is a war on children. It is a war on their childhood and their future."

UNRWA Commissioner-General Lazzarini also shared a graph based on data from the UN and the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, showing the number of children reported killed in Gaza between October 7 and February 29 compared to the number of children killed in wars over the last 4 years.

The graph indicated that while the number of children killed in wars over the last 4 years was 12,193, the number of children reported killed in Gaza was over 12,300.

Lazzarini called for an immediate ceasefire for the children of Gaza.
