UN statement on Gaza: 'Immediate ceasefire is essential'

UNRWA issued a statement on its X social media account regarding the humanitarian crisis caused by Israel in Gaza, where attacks have been ongoing since October 7, 2023.

The statement noted that safe and guaranteed humanitarian aid access in Gaza is essential, especially in the face of the critical water shortage that displaced families are confronting during the current high temperatures.

The statement further included the expression, "The health and lives of the people (in Gaza) depend on unhindered (humanitarian) access and an immediate ceasefire."

NUMBER OF AID TRUCKS HAS DROPPED

The Israeli army occupied the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt on May 7. Food shortages and hunger in Gaza, which is under intense Israeli attacks, are worsening day by day.

It is reported that the number of aid trucks entering Gaza has dropped significantly due to the occupation and closure of the Rafah Border Crossing by Israeli forces.

In the attacks carried out by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7, at least 35,456 Palestinians, including 15,103 children and 9,849 women, have been killed, and 79,476 people have been injured.
