Urgent call from the United Nations for the climate crisis

United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized the need for rapid and effective steps to be taken at a global level against the climate crisis, stating, "We have no time to lose."

Speaking after a high-level climate meeting at the UN headquarters, Guterres said, "No region is spared from the devastation of accelerating climate disasters. The crisis deepens poverty, displaces communities, and fuels conflict and instability. We cannot, must not, and will not give up on climate action."

Drawing attention to renewable energy, Guterres stated that a concrete roadmap on how to provide 1.3 trillion dollars in annual financing for developing countries by 2035 is expected to be presented at the 'COP30 Summit' to be held in Brazil in November.

The meeting was attended by leaders from China, the European Union (EU), and several climate-affected countries, as well as representatives from regional organizations such as the African Union, ASEAN, and the Alliance of Small Island States.
