US Ambassador Barrack's 'conditional' F-35 statement: Turkey must not use the S-400 system
US Ambassador to Ankara and Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack stated that discussions are ongoing regarding Turkey's request to rejoin the F-35 program and the issue of the Russian-made S-400 air defense system. Barrack said, "Under US law, for Turkey to return to the F-35 program, it must no longer use or possess the S-400 system."
In a statement made on his social media account, Barracknotedthe following:
"The United States is continuingits discussions with Turkey regardingTurkey's desire to rejoin the F-35 program and its possession of the Russian-made S-400 air defense system.Barrack stated thatthese discussions arecontinues.
According toUS law,for Turkey to return to the F-35 program,it mustno longer use or possessthe S-400 system.
