US and China reach agreement on TikTok
The US and China have reached an agreement regarding the social media platform TikTok, strengthening their cooperation.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer made statements to the press following trade talks held with Chinese officials in Madrid, Spain. In addition to TikTok, key issues such as money laundering and fentanyl sales were also addressed during the meetings.
Bessent stated that money laundering harms both countries, particularly due to the ties between groups evading China's capital controls and drug cartels in Mexico. Emphasizing that this situation is a consequence of fentanyl sales, Bessent said, "We discussed ways to cooperate on this issue with the Chinese delegation and reached a full consensus."
In this context, the agreement reached between the US and China regarding TikTok is considered an important step in developing commercial relations between the two countries.
