US and UK strike Yemen
The Houthis announced that US and British forces carried out 6 airstrikes on the city of Al-Hudaydah in western Yemen. No official statement has been made yet regarding the toll of the attacks.
According to reports from Al-Masirah television channel, the attacks were carried out in the Al-Arraj area of Bajil district and the Ras Issa area of As-Salif district.
The attacks are believed to have been carried out in retaliation for the Houthis' attacks on Israel-linked ships in the Red Sea.
It is unknown whether the airstrikes resulted in civilian casualties. There are concerns that the attacks will further escalate tensions in the region and prolong the civil war in Yemen.
The UN and several international organizations have expressed their humanitarian concerns. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called for an immediate ceasefire in Yemen.
REGARDING THE TENSIONS IN THE RED SEA
The Houthis have been carrying out attacks on Israel-linked ships in the Red Sea since October 2023. The US and its allies have increased tensions in the region by launching a naval operation against the Houthis.
It remains unclear whether the US and the UK will continue their airstrikes on Yemen. There is a high probability that the Houthis will also carry out retaliatory attacks.
