US approves new $7.4 billion arms sale to Israel
The US administration has approved a new arms sale to Israel totaling $7.4 billion, which includes thousands of missiles and munitions across various categories.
According to a notification sent to Congress by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency under the Pentagon, the US Department of State has approved a new $7.4 billion arms sale to Israel.
With this, the US administration has approved the sale of 3,000 AGM-114 Hellfire missiles worth $660 million, as well as bombs, munitions, guidance kits, missile support, and related equipment with a total value of $6.75 billion.
Israel will be supplied with 2,166 small-diameter bombs, 2,800 general-purpose 500-kilogram bombs, 13,000 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kits, as well as thousands of other bombs and guidance kits in various categories.
It was noted that the approval of this arms sale coincided with the period when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in Washington.
For foreign military sales approved by the US administration and formally notified to Congress, there is a 15-day legal objection period for NATO member countries, as well as South Korea, Australia, Japan, Israel, and New Zealand. If no objection is raised by Congress to block the sale during this period, the approval process for the sale is considered complete.
