US attacks Syria and Iraq. 'Urgent' call from Russia
Following the US strikes last night against Iran-linked militia groups in Iraq and Syria in retaliation for the attack in Jordan, Russia has called for an "urgent" meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
The US responded last night to the attack on its base on the Syria-Jordan border on January 28, which resulted in the deaths of 3 soldiers, by striking more than 85 targets with numerous fighter jets.
RUSSIA REACTS TO THE ATTACKS
While 16 people lost their lives as a result of the attacks on Iran-linked militia groups in Iraq and Syria, a reaction to the strikes came from Russia.
Dmitry Polyanskiy, Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations (UN), stated in his announcement, "We have requested an 'urgent' meeting of the UNSC due to the threat to peace and security posed by the US attacks on Syria and Iraq."
