US decision on G20 Summit

Leavitt responded to statements by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa that "they were in discussions regarding the US participation in the summit."

The US spokesperson stated, "I am pleased to announce that there is no change in our position. The US is not participating in the official meetings at the G20 Summit in South Africa."

Leavitt also said that they "did not like" some of the expressions in President Ramaphosa's statement regarding the US and that they had conveyed this.

The 20th G20 Leaders' Summit will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on November 22-23.

US President Donald Trump had previously announced that he would not attend the G20 Leaders' Summit, citing some "incidents of violence against white people" in the country as the reason.
