US Department of Justice releases 3 million files, 2,000 videos, and 180,000 images in Epstein investigation
US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche announced that they have shared more than 3 million new files with the public regarding the investigation into billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in prison while awaiting trial on charges of establishing a sex trafficking network and sexually abusing underage girls.
In a press conference, Blanche stated that they have released and made accessible to the public more than 3 million new documents, 2,000 videos, and approximately 180,000 images related to the Epstein investigation.
Noting that this latest release means a total of 3.5 million documents have been made public in accordance with the relevant law, Blanche stated that US President Donald Trump had instructed the department to "be transparent" and that the department has done so.
Stating that more than 500 lawyers and experts spent long days and nights to complete this work, Blanche said, "We followed the law. We followed the statute. We did not protect President Trump, or anyone else. There are no super-secret documents we are hiding about Epstein.”
Arguing that they have thus "refuted any criticism" that the Department of Justice "does not take child abuse seriously," Blanche noted that "Epstein's victims suffered unspeakable pain," and added that extensive redactions were made in the photos and videos to prevent personal identification.
