The Houthis have been carrying out attacks on ships in the Red Sea in response to Israel's attacks in Gaza.

Following this development, the US administration announced the expected decision regarding the group known as the Houthis in Yemen, Ansarallah.

DESIGNATED AS A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION

The US administration has re-designated the Ansarallah group as a "foreign terrorist organization" due to their attacks in the Red Sea.

With the Biden administration's implementation of this regulation, the Houthis will once again fall under the scope of "Specially Designated Global Terrorist" status under the Immigration and Nationality Act and Executive Order 13224 regarding Foreign Terrorist Organizations.

REMOVED FROM THE LIST IN 2021

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had announced that they were removing the organization known as the Houthis in Yemen, Ansarallah, from the foreign terrorist organization list, effective February 16, 2021.

It was stated that the decision in question was taken due to the extremely deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen.
