US from the air, proxies on the ground: UAE prepares for operation in Yemen

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the United Arab Emirates (UAE)'s proxy militias in Yemen are preparing for a ground operation with US support to capture the port city of Hodeidah, which is under the control of the Ansar Allah Movement.

Experts warn that this move would reignite the devastating civil war in the country.

A source who spoke to the newspaper stated: "People involved in the planning said that officials from private American military companies have been advising Yemeni groups on a possible ground operation. The UAE, which supports these groups, has also raised this plan with American officials in recent weeks."

The ground operation in question aims to take advantage of the US bombardment targeting areas of Yemen under Ansar Allah control, which has been ongoing without interruption since March 15.

US officials speaking to The Wall Street Journal argued that the new US administration has carried out over 350 strikes in its ongoing campaign against Yemen, and that as a result, Ansar Allah has been weakened.

The National Salvation Government, led by Ansar Allah, controls the most populous regions of Yemen, including the capital Sana'a and the strategically important port city of Hodeidah.
