The US Department of Labor has released consumer inflation data for April. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the US increased by 0.3 percent in April on a monthly basis, remaining below expectations, while it rose by 3.4 percent on an annual basis.
Accordingly, the cost of living for consumers increased by 0.3 percent in April compared to the previous month. Market expectations were for the CPI to increase by 0.4 percent during this period.
In the country, the CPI rose by 3.4 percent on an annual basis in April. Thus, the annual CPI aligned with the market expectation of 3.4 percent.
