US issues attack warning for Damascus: Leave Syria immediately
The US Department of State has issued an attack warning for Damascus. The department warned its citizens, stating, 'No part of Syria should be considered safe. Leave Syria immediately.'
In a statement issued by the US Embassy in Damascus, US citizens were warned against traveling to Syria.
The statement, which noted that the travel advisory for Syria is at the fourth level, indicated that the US Department of State is monitoring credible information regarding "possible and imminent" attacks, including those targeting tourist locations.
The statement, which claimed that the reason for the warning is "terrorism and civil unrest," used the phrase, "No part of Syria should be considered safe from violence."
The statement, which included the phrase, "We remind US citizens that terrorists continue to plan kidnappings, bombings, and other attacks in Syria," suggested that public events and locations could be targeted in potential attacks.
US citizens currently in the region were warned to leave the country immediately.
