US issues 'leave immediately' warning to its citizens in that country

The statement included a call for "US citizens in Venezuela to leave the country immediately now that international flights have resumed." It was emphasized that security risks persist.

ALLEGATIONS OF ARMED GROUPS AND TARGETING

US authorities warned their citizens to be cautious, claiming there are reports that "armed groups are blocking roads and targeting those with US citizenship or those who support the country."

The statement, which noted that power outages occur from time to time in the country, indicated that the travel advisory for Venezuela is at the highest level, Level 4.

REACTION FROM VENEZUELA: ALLEGATIONS ARE BASELESS

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil, in a statement on the US-based social media platform X, described the security concerns raised by the US as "baseless allegations." Gil argued that his country is "in a state of calm and stability."

The US Embassy, located in the Baruta district of the capital Caracas, was closed after diplomatic relations between the two countries were suspended in 2019. It was announced that a delegation from the US Department of State traveled to Caracas on January 9 to evaluate the possibility of reopening the embassy.

The Venezuelan government, following this visit, announced that dialogue channels for the re-establishment of diplomatic relations with the US had been reactivated.
