The US has issued a security alert for its citizens in France due to the violent incidents that occurred following the Yellow Vests protests.
In a statement released by the US Embassy in Paris, it was recalled that the protests on October 17 turned into violent acts in some locations. The statement noted that a curfew has been implemented in some cities under the instructions of the French Prime Minister's Office.
The Embassy also noted that there have been reports in the French press regarding the possibility of prefectures implementing new bans.
In the alert, US citizens were asked to stay away from areas where protests are being held. Furthermore, it was advised to monitor the current situation for potential disruptions in metro and public transportation, and to follow developments regarding curfews.
