As the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen continue their attacks on Saudi Arabia, the US Embassy in Riyadh has issued a security alert for its citizens in the country.
In the statement released by the embassy, US citizens were urged to exercise caution due to recent attacks carried out by the Houthis.
The statement said, "The US Mission is aware of reports of attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh as of October 8 and warns all US citizens to exercise increased caution.
The Houthis have carried out attacks in Saudi Arabia, including on civilian airports.
The military conflict has the potential to escalate. US citizens should be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions," it said.
The statement also called on US citizens not to travel to areas near the Yemeni border.
