US launches attack on Iran: Iranian Revolutionary Guard claims 'many US soldiers killed'

It has been reported that warning messages were sent to mobile phones in the Jordanian city of Mafraq after Iran announced it had begun retaliating against US attacks.

The US military announced that it has launched attacks on Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Iranian state television reported that Jiroft Airport in Kerman province was also targeted, and that there were explosions around the city of Bandar Abbas and Sirik, as well as the cities of Chabahar and Konarak in Sistan and Baluchestan, in addition to Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz.

While the Iranian Revolutionary Guard responded by saying, "The US will regret its new attacks, a heavy punishment awaits them," US President Donald Trump stated, "Attacks are being carried out on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz. If Iran retaliates against this extremely justified attack, it will be hit again much harder and at a much higher level." Shortly after Trump's statement, the Iranian press announced that the Iranian military had retaliated against the US attacks with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

On the other hand, Deputy Governor of Hormozgan Ahmed Nefisi reported that at least 2 people were killed and 50 people were injured according to initial findings after the US struck a residence where a wedding ceremony was being held in the city of Kuhestak in the Sirik district. The injured were transferred to various hospitals.

Following the start of the US attacks on Iran, Jordan also went on high alert. It was reported that warning messages were sent to mobile phones in the Jordanian city of Mafraq.

While a statement of "we will resist to the end" came from the Iranian side in response to the US attacks, it was also announced that the Strait of Hormuz would be closed again, and this time more tightly.

The Reuters news agency, however, announced that there was no loss of life in the aforementioned attack by Iran, while Jordan announced that 10 of the 13 ballistic missiles fired by Iran had been intercepted.
