The following statements were included in the statement made by CENTCOM:
'United States Central Command (CENTCOM) forces, in response to the downing of a US Army Apache helicopter yesterday, initiated self-defense strikes against Iran today at 5:00 PM Eastern Time (ET) under the direction of the Commander-in-Chief. The operation is a proportionate response to Iran's unprovoked aggression.'
