US media reports 'draft of temporary proposal being prepared'

US-based CNN International has claimed that Oman is preparing a temporary draft proposal regarding international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

The report alleged that the proposal plans for maritime traffic in the strait to be conducted through two separate corridors and for both routes to be kept open.

According to the report, the maritime corridor located in the south will be within Omani territorial waters, where the navigation order that existed before the conflict between the US-Israel and Iran will be maintained to ensure the free passage of ships.

Ships using the route in the north, which will pass through Iranian territorial waters, will be required to obtain prior permission from Iranian authorities. However, it was stated that under a potential agreement to be reached between the parties, no transit fees or service charges will be collected from ships using this route.

"Iran and Oman agreed to continue technical and political discussions"

Oman and Iran have announced that they have reached an agreement to continue technical and political discussions aimed at conducting navigation in the Strait of Hormuz within the framework of international law. In a statement shared on social media by the Oman News Agency, it was said, "Oman and Iran held talks in Muscat to ensure the safety and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in light of the situation and consequences arising from recent developments. Both sides agreed to continue discussions at both technical and political levels in order to reach the necessary agreements in accordance with international law."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his accompanying delegation had paid an official visit to Muscat, the capital of Oman, to address issues regarding the recent situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Araghchi had met with his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi.
