US media: Trump sent his Special Envoy Witkoff to Pakistan for Iran talks
The US-based news outlet CNN International has claimed that US President Donald Trump sent his Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, for meetings with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
As the delicate ceasefire between the US and Iran continues, the US press has made a significant claim regarding the course of negotiations between the parties.
In a report citing two US officials, the US-based news outlet CNN International wrote that US President Donald Trump sent his Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.
The report stated that Witkoff and Kushner are expected to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Islamabad this weekend.
It was noted that US Vice President James David Vance, who led the US delegation in the first round of contacts held between the parties on April 11, is not planned to attend these meetings. Officials stated that if any progress is made in the talks, Vance would be prepared to visit Islamabad.
This development comes following Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi's announcement regarding his upcoming tour of visits to Pakistan, Oman, and Russia.
