US military: 9 targets belonging to Iran-linked groups in Syria struck
The US Central Command announced that 9 targets belonging to Iran-linked groups in Syria were struck in response to attacks on US personnel.
The US military announced that it has carried out retaliatory strikes in response to multiple attacks against US personnel in Syria over the past 24 hours.
In a written statement from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), it was reported that strikes were carried out against 9 targets located in 2 areas belonging to Iran-linked groups in Syria.
The statement said, "These strikes will degrade the ability of Iranian-backed groups to plan and launch future attacks on US and Coalition personnel who are in the region to conduct operations to defeat ISIS."
"ATTACKS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED"
CENTCOM Commander General Michael Erik Kurilla stated that the US will take every step necessary to protect its personnel and coalition partners and to respond to attacks, adding, "Our message is clear. Attacks against US and coalition partners in the region will not be tolerated."
