US military targets Iran: Strikes targets in the Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf had stated shortly before the attack, "Full control of the Strait of Hormuz is in the hands of our armed forces."

Following the US military's announcement that it had launched strikes, Iranian media reported that sounds of explosions were heard around Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as in the cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik, and Chabahar and Konarak in Sistan and Baluchestan province. The US military stated, "We have launched strikes against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets in Iran."

The statement indicated that the strikes against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets were launched on the grounds that Iran had made "attempted attacks" on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and on US personnel in the region.
