US officials deny claims that FBI Director Patel visited Russia

US officials have denied reports that FBI Director Kash Patel visited Moscow, the capital of Russia.

In a statement issued by the FBI, it was reported that Patel was in the state of Virginia for an event concerning law enforcement.

The statement, made via an official social media account linked to the FBI, noted that Patel attended an event at Liberty University in Virginia held to celebrate law enforcement personnel.

The statement also criticized the US-based news channel MS NOW, which had raised the claim.

MS NOW had claimed in a report, which it alleged was based on official sources, that Patel was on an official visit to Russia to attend a meeting.

The US-based news site Politico had also argued that Patel would hold talks in Moscow and St. Petersburg on October 14-15 and that the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) would host the meetings.
