In a statement released by the White House, it was noted that the leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East region, stating, “The President affirmed the United States' full support for the defense of US partners against all threats from state and non-state actors.”
“The two leaders agreed to pursue broader diplomatic efforts to maintain stability across the region and prevent the conflict from spreading,” the statement said, adding that the leaders welcomed the delivery of humanitarian aid from Egypt to the Gaza Strip and noted, “They acknowledged that much more is needed for civilians to have continued access to food, water, and medical assistance.”
HOSTAGES DISCUSSED
The statement noted that the leaders welcomed ongoing efforts to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas, and stated that both leaders called for the immediate release of the hostages.
The statement further noted that the leaders emphasized the importance of working toward a sustainable peace between Israelis and Palestinians after the conflict between Israel and Palestine ends, and that they agreed to remain in close coordination.
