US press reports: Order given for second aircraft carrier

US President Donald Trump stated that they need to reach an agreement with Iran, adding that if an agreement cannot be reached, they will move to the second phase, which he described as being tough for Iran. The US press reported that a second aircraft carrier will be deployed to the Middle East. Trump also shared a notable post about the F-22 on his social media account.

In a report citing a US official, Fox News stated that as President Donald Trump tries to decide whether or not to launch a military operation against Iran, the USS Gerald R. Ford has been ordered to move from the Caribbean Sea to the Middle East.

It was reported that this would be the second aircraft carrier sent to the Middle East. Three US officials speaking to CBS News also stated that the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier and its accompanying warships are expected to set sail from the Caribbean toward the Middle East.

ABC News reported that the crew of the aircraft carrier and its support ships were informed on Thursday about the new deployment to the Middle East.

The US had deployed the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and three guided-missile destroyers to the Middle East more than two weeks ago.

Responding to a journalist's question, "Tell us why you made the choice regarding the second aircraft carrier you decided to send to the Middle East," Trump said, "Well, if we can't make a deal, we'll need it. If we do make a deal, we can cut its journey short—it will set sail very soon.
