US press: Rubio gave his counterparts a timeline for the end of the Iran war
According to a report by Axios citing sources close to the matter, Rubio stated at the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting today that attacks on Iran would continue for another 2 to 4 weeks.
At the meeting, Rubio indicated that the US is close to holding serious talks with Iran, noting that a large number of new US troops have been deployed to the region and that the Trump administration is also evaluating options that would escalate tensions.
Emphasizing that the US is determined to achieve all its objectives regarding Iran, Rubio stated that the US is still communicating with Iran through intermediaries.
Rubio claimed that there is still uncertainty about who makes the decisions in Tehran, and that Iranian officials who want to negotiate with the US are avoiding answering their phones for fear of assassination.
US Secretary of State Rubio also told reporters in Paris that they expect the attacks on Iran to last for weeks, not months.
