US response to Israel on 'Rafah'
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken conveyed to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant that they oppose a major offensive on Rafah and requested that the Israeli minister facilitate the entry of aid into Gaza.
According to a written statement from the US Department of State, Blinken held a phone call with Gallant.
According to the statement, Blinken reaffirmed the US commitment to Israel's security and stated that they are on the same page with Israel regarding the defeat of Hamas.
Evaluating the latest situation in Gaza and Rafah with the Israeli minister, Blinken reiterated the US position that it opposes Israel launching a major offensive on Rafah.
Blinken also requested that Gallant ensure that civilians and humanitarian aid workers in Gaza are not targeted and that they facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the region.
