The US response to the new administration in Syria and recent events has become clear: 'We are all very happy'

With the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, the question of what policy the opposition will pursue continues to be a subject of curiosity.

While it remains unknown whether the sanctions imposed during the Bashar Assad era will be lifted in the country where life is returning to normal, Senator Jim Risch, the ranking Republican member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, made statements to Reuters.

Stating that it is too early to talk about sanctions yet, Risch said, "We are all very happy that Assad is gone. We have been working on this for a long, long time, and the job is done.

The problem is, what happens next. While the opposition has made encouraging statements regarding unity and human rights, we will see how they act.

This situation definitely requires a wait-and-see approach."

Senator Ben Cardin, a member of the Democratic Party and the current Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, called for caution, stating, "It is still too early to tell whether the new regime's record will reflect a different way of doing business."

Senator Chris Murphy, who chairs the Senate subcommittee on the Middle East, also said, "I don't think we should be hesitant about opening channels of communication."
